When Apple TV Plus first launched in November 2019, many people were skeptical that the company that made Mac PCs and iPhones could launch a streaming service that could compete with the likes of Netflix, Hulu, and Disney Plus (which launched the same month). The list of Apple TV Plus movies is pretty thin, but it does include some acclaimed films from many different genres, from sci-fi, to comedy, to WWII battles, to animated fantasy, and even Shakespeare. This list includes CODA, which won the Best Picture Academy Award for 2021.
The list of Apple TV Plus movies that were made as documentaries includes several music-themed films, plus a number of nature movies, and even one about a man who really, really loves Christmas.

Most of the specials on the service are devoted to holiday-themed programming, including some new Peanuts specials and two specials featuring Mariah Carey.
The service has a lot of great genre TV shows to stream right off the bat, including a series about an alternate history of the space race, a show about a creepy baby doll, and a series centering on a very different office environment
The service also has plenty of acclaimed drama shows to watch, including a number of true-crime programs.
Apple TV Plus has a number of funny shows to check out, including Ted Lasso, the winner of the 2021 Emmy Award for best comedy series.

There’s actually a solid amount of TV shows made for children and their parents to watch together, including new episodes of Fraggle Rock and new Peanuts shows.
There are a number of sports-based documentary TV series on Apple TV Plus, several shows hosted by Oprah Winfrey, and a live Major League Baseball doubleheader every Friday night.
Unlike other streaming services, Apple TV Plus has very little older programming that wasn’t made especially for the service. However, it does have a few older shows and specials that are now exclusive to Apple TV Plus.
