The American Music Awards are back and this year the show will be bigger than ever, as the 50th year is celebrated amongst the most popular musicians across all genres. This year's show will take place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles and Wayne Brady will serve as the host. The 2022 American Music Awards winners are voted by fans. Nominees are based on key fan interactions, which are reflected on the Billboard charts including: streaming, album and song sales, radio airplay, and tour grosses with the eligibility period being between September 24, 2021 and September 22, 2022.

This year's show has a stellar lineup of both nominees and performers. In addition to some of these incredible performances, Lionel Richie will also be presented with the prestigious Icon Award. Richie will be the first artist in the history of the show to take the stage in every decade since the show's inception.
